From Footy To Fittings!
Many of us dream of becoming a professional sportsman - but what about a professional footballer dreaming of becoming a plumber!
Well, maybe not dreaming, but former Titans and Knights hooker Chad Redman has been working as an apprentice plumber on the Gold Coast.
Because while making a living from sport sounds great, it doesn't always pay the bills - so it's important to have a fallback if things don't go the way you planned.
And after four games for the Titans, Redman was told the club wouldn’t be offering him a deal for 2016.
The 22 year old has two children so decided to put his NRL career on hold to best provide for his family.
As he told FOX SPORTS: “It is a bit surreal (going from NRL to plumbing) but I needed it for peace of mind…..I sat down with my partner and said ‘I have nothing to back me up if I don’t get a contract'.”
He added: “I needed to get a security blanket around my family in regards to income. I have no regrets and loving what I’m doing.”
Keeping his hand in football, Redman has signed on to play for Burleigh in Queensland’s Intrust Super Cup next season.
