MPGA and the people of Perth sets a new
Guinness World Record!

On March 11, the world celebrated World Plumbing Day which is now celebrated all over the world.

This year, the Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA celebrated this day in style - with an attempt at the Guinness World Record for the Longest Human Towel Chain.

The record stood at 250 people, but MPGA were up for the challenge!

In the week leading up to the event, Perth radio station Nova 93.7 spread the message across Perth about the attempt and raised community awareness of this important day.

Monday 11 March arrived and the show was on, with CEO Murray Thomas kicking off the day with a prime-time interview on 6PR with Steve Mills.

The people of Perth lined up from 11:30 - ready to break the world record.

Each participant received an embroidered towel and an “I'm a world record holder” badge. With all the participants in place and ready to go, the countdown started and everyone waited patiently for one minute until history was made.

At 12:50 on Monday 11 March, World Plumbing Day 2013, the Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA broke the Guinness World Record for the longest human towel chain with 261 participants!

This event gave MPGA and World Plumbing Day great promotion to the community outside of the Plumbing Industry.

Thank you to all that participated on the day. We look forward celebrating World Plumbing Day again in 2014!
